I know firsthand what it’s like to navigate burnout as a neurodivergent person. Traditional advice doesn’t work for us, and unmasking isn’t easily accessible for everyone. Neurodivergent burnout moves in stages, each with different symptoms, energy levels, support needs, and lived experiences. That’s why I created the Autistic Burnout Recovery Framework™ with the exact tools you need for where you are right now. Here’s a quick overview of each stage:

Pre-Burnout

  • Early warning signs: increased stress, irritability, and overload. Decreased tolerance for demands.

  • Focus on prevention, pacing yourself, and sustainable routines.

Stage 1

  • Your system is depleted. You’re doing the minimum required to get through the day.

  • Focus on management, not recovery; stabilizing basics and conserving energy.

Stage 2

  • Some energy begins to return, but capacity is still limited and inconsistent.

  • Focus on gentle recovery, pacing, and rebuilding capacity safely.

Stage 3

  • You’re not out of burnout yet, but your energy is more stable.

  • This is the turning point where recovery shifts to life and systems restructuring. Some choose 1:1 support at this stage to go deeper.
